Each day is special and unique .
Alrighty. I'm back here again. Having a busy time in studies and other activities.
Several things to talk about right now.
Firstly, it' about the 2-day-1-night Combined Leadership Camp for all Sec 1, 2 and 3 student leaders from 7.15am on Monday, 7th September, to 6pm on Tuesday, 8th September. Didn't take any photos for this as apparently, handphones weren't allowed. It was quite a fun camp, I must say, especially with all the entertainment and tedious work we all did.
I shall begin with Monday.
Day 1:
Woke up at 6.30am at home, ate a sumptuous breakfast, a long, good bath and was ready for camp. Arrived in school canteen seeing all Lower Sec. Asked Si Jing where the Sec 3s were and he said at the foyer. At the foyer, Prefects, PSLs and a few other tracks were gathered at the tables. I joined Lucas, Wei Jian, Leon, Joelle and Desiree at a corner and begin chatting until 7.45am, the time for all to gather at the canteen. Hud arrived AT 7.45am, though he had his reasons for being late, as usual :P So we were directed to the Dance Room to place our camping bags there till at night.
Ok. Seeing this chunk of words above is already a lot for the first part, I'll get to the main points.
Everyone went to MPR1 to be grouped into Clusters A, B and C. We, the prefects, were grouped with the NE members. I was in a group called F-5, short for Fantastic 5, as there were 5 Sec 1s, 5 Sec 2s and 5 Sec 3s. Sec 1s were Elkes, Ryan, Aaron, Karlo, Wafi and Farouk. Sec 2s were Maria, Eileen, Damien, Lucas, and the Sec 3s were Randy, Nicholas, Prabu, Wee Chin and I and lastly, our lovely trainer, HuiQi!!
Delane, our Camp Chief, had a briefing with everyone on what leadership was and what to expect from the camp. Bla bla bla. Heard the same thing for the past 2 years. So simply chatted with Damien, Hui Qi and Maria. Finally lunch time. Forgot what the food was. After lunch, we were to do a Team Value Contract on a piece of mahjong paper and we rushed to "book" a spot at the alternative space. Lower Sec received their orange camp shirts there. Lastly, we did a cheer which we didn't have to present, so no brain cells killed for me. LOL, kidding =P
After that, went back to canteen to do a fictitious project called Crazy Airway, about the World Health Organization requesting Hai Sing Catholic School to check up on 21 spots in Singapore infected with the H1N1 virus. Whole canteen was a mess. There were 2 whistles. First is for a break after a minute of "investigation". Second is to resume the activity and continue for another minute. Whole canteen was a mess. First minute, I just walked 1 round around the canteen and the second minute, I just sat on the bench looking at all the lower sec and a few sec 3s scrambling around frantically.
Up next, Crazy Airway. Every team had to fold paper planes for a competition, and the planes couldn't be crumbled as Delane said, if SIA, Jetstar or Qantas had a plane with defects, the plane wouldn't run well. Same application to paper planes. So everyone was like "don't touch the plane!" Don't do this, don't do that. Bla bla bla. All went to the Parade Square next. 5 "pilots" were to be selected from each team to take part in a competition where they had to make the plane fly for about 3 metres to a rectangular box near the microphone area. And I've no idea how he did it, but Delane predicted a wind to come at 4.15pm, and there REALLY was wind. Some planes went up diagonally and came down vertically. Sad. Others just hit the ground. A few were unlucky, with the planes landing on the box but sliding along the ground and missing the box.
Time for dinner. Every team had to come up with a proposal on what to buy with a budget of $15 - $20 to feed about 12 members per team. Any extras were to be given to the trainers. So a few went to do the shopping and I was put to helping the rest pitch their tents at the Parade Square.
Food arrived. Everyone began cooking. I was just walking around my team, observing Maria, Eileen, Prabu and Lucas doing most of the cooking. I just went around filling the fuels, checking on the whether the food had been cooked and helping the Sec 1s do a bit of cooking. Pretty fun. I was the last to eat, with Prabu and Wee Chin. Damn, one of the lower sec spilled boiling water on my hand. Dam pain sia..
Dinner was completed 30 minutes behind schedule. Most Sec 1s and some sec 2s didn't bother eating up all their instant noodles and just threw it down the sinks in the canteen, clogging the drains and flooding the sinks. In the end the sec 3s had to clear all the water for them. They received a bad scolding from Joelle and Lucas, and Desiree cried as she was disappointed about the attitudes of the lower sec. So, as it was late, everyone were given 45 minutes to bathe. We sec 3s let the juniors bathe 1st while the juniors had tents set to them.
Ok. Fastforward to midnight.
Day 2:
I was patrolling the tents to ensure the lower sec were asleep as they had to wake up at 4am. Some of them couldn't sleep while others were fast in wonderland. After that, at about 1.30am, I was with Leon, Maria, Shi Ting, Ben, 1 other guy and a few other girls up in 2E4 for a midnight meeting. Kinda fun. I had Red Bull from Maria and yeah, enjoyed that one. Went back to dorm at 3am to sleep till 5.100am. Ate spicy noodles for breakfast till 5.30am and went back to sleep as instructed till 7.30am.
So everyone were gathered at MPR2 to memorize 27 sentences on leadership which we were supposed to take a test on, but didn't. Then, we watched a 138-minute movie titled "We Were Soldiers", about a war between the American Army and the Vietnamese Army. First few minutes had a bit of action already, and the subtitles had vulgarities from one of the soldiers. Sec 1s and 2s were like giggling away when they saw the words. LOL.
I was like nodding away and waking up when there was a shooting, and back to sleep when they were simply talking. Movie ended, we were told to do reflections on the person we liked the most, his characteristics, what he did, his good points and his bad points. I chose the General of the American Army, played by Mel Gibson.
After that, time for the lower sec to clear the tents. Nigel, Reginald and 2 others demonstrated to the lower sec on the procedure of dismantling the tents and putting them back nicely into the camping bags. While doing this, Mr Surin had come out of the general office about to go home. But he saw us and got us to gather together and had a nice 30-min(around there) talk with us.
Next, lunch. Nice food. 2 more activities remaining; the first was about getting rafia strings(i think that's what they're called) to tangle all of us around and having us to untangle ourselves. Quite easy though, with obedient sec 1s listening to our instructions correctly :P the second activity was about a project proposal. The main objective was to advertise a recipe and not the product, and everyone advertised the product. Sad for the trainers, had to taste all the horrible lemonades and orange squashes. Haha.
Lastly, we had a final cheer in the canteen and most of the sec3s were gathered in the middle to sing the Hai Sing school song, both Mandarin and English versions. Very fun time. Most of the lower sec went home first at 6pm, while Bryan, Si Jing, Jasper and a few other sec 2s remained to help the sec 3s re-arrange all tables and benches in the canteen to their original positions.
Final talk with Mr Gng about the camp and his opinions on us, the Sec 3 batch of leaders in Hai Sing.

Next to talk about is my movie outing with Firman today. We met at 11.15am at Downtown East and proceeded to E!Hub to catch G-Force. A good movie, though the beginning is a bit complicated. Basically about a mission for the guinea pigs to save the world from a maniac who wants to control the world using robots installed in electronic machines. A little humour here and there. Should catch it. Up next to watch are Aliens In The Attic, 9 and The Time Traveler's Wife. Good movies, I suppose. Haha
I'm off for now. Hoping to return soon! Cya :D
