Hi people. I'm back here on the last day of november 2009. I know this blog's been outdated for a month, and I'm back to update it again~
First up, I'll be updating on events that occurred most recently followed by the first one. In other words, the reverse of chronological.
Ok, well, on Saturday, 28th November, my 4th grandmother passed away. She died in the wee hours of saturday and yeah, everyone had to cancel their plans to attend her funeral. Not the whole extended family though, only some here and there. Nothing much to talk about here. Moving on..
As some of you may know, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has released his new album For Your Entertainment at the American Music Awards 2009. And during one of his performance, he happened to hug and/or kiss another male dancer, something like that. I'm not quite clear of what happened, as I only found out from it through the newspapers.
The songs I like in For Your Entertainment are: 1)For Your Entertainment 2)Sure Fire Winners 3)If I Had You 4)Whataya Want From Me. Most of these songs are techno, pop or electropop songs that has a lot of energy in them, the type I prefer most :)
Next, my dad just bought me a Philips wireless handset that is Bluetooth enabled. It's been 6 days since I've used it and I've to say that it's great. Costs over a hundred dollars but very worth it.
Pros of headset:
1) Switches off on its own if unused for 5 mins or longer
2) Once switched on, headset connects itself to phone automatically
3) You don't have to manually go back to the last played song and to play it. Just have to tap on the side to play it
4) Charging requires only 4 hours, but the headset itself can last for half a day!!
Cons of headset:
1) Buttons on both sides of the head are very sensitive. Any slight touch or movement and the function will be enabled. Scenario: Enjoying a very nice song and headset accidentally touches something. Song is either paused or the next song is played.
2) Sometimes it's hard to tell whether the headset is on or off
3)Similar to the 1st one, the call button is also sensitive and sometimes without knowing, you may be calling someone you didn't intend to talk to
4) Radio function in phone still has to be earpiece-enabled for it to work, and phone can't connect to both earpiece and headset simultaneously. So have to use earpiece for listening to radio
Next, my fun twenty-four hours at Sentosa with my cousin and his family. It was an unplanned overnight stay, as my phone somehow wasn't able to contact anyone, nor was anyone able to contact me. And my dad fell asleep instead of staying awake(not blaming him at all) while my mum couldn't be found.
So I reached there at 5.30pm, began swmming with them at 6 until 7.15pm and went back for a shower. It was both my cousin's PSLE result announcement as well as her youngest brother's 2nd birthday. We then settled down, watched tv, discussed on where everyone(except me) would be sleeping, etc. We then headed out to some city area for dinner. Ate prawn omellete, a grouper and chicken satay. Yummy ^^
Called my dad. Said to pick me up at 1am. Went back to resort's hotel room. Took out cake. Began singing happy birthday to baby cousin and ate HALF of the hotel's small 100% chocolate CAKE. Quite good, I had to admit. Fully chocolate.
After that, went down to the arcade to play for 30 mins. I now know how to drift properly while playing in the Beginner and Intermediate games on Daytona USA. The sharp turn in Beginner game, 2 sharp turns and 2 long turns in Intermediate game. Don't dare to play Expert one, as I don't know the road well.
1am already. Cousins preparing to sleep. Phoned both house telephones, no ringing sound. Phoned dad, mum, brother, still no ringing sound. Brother called, no voice heard. Used cousin's phone, found out dad was asleep, mum not at home yet. Couldn't reach mum. No choice. Had to find a way to either take a short nap and contact mum later on, or just sleep the night away. Took the latter. So my "bed" consisted of my body resting on a chair and my legs on a coffee table, with cushions cushioning my legs from the glass and a blanket provided by my aunt/uncle.
Couldn't sleep, so took my wireless headset(luckily I brought it along or else I wouldn't know what to do) and watched most of the videos on my phone and listened to peaceful songs from Taylor Swift. Did this for almost 2 hours, before I finally fell asleep at 3am. Woke up at 8am to find aunt and eldest cousin's girlfriend awake. Yes, she went along and had an unexpected overnight stay too. Felt sleepy. Slept again. Woke up at 10.30am. Went for another swim till 12. No time for more arcade games as they had to check out. So we went to this Revolving Restaurant @ Prima Tower which is found on 201 Keppel Road. Food was totally Beijing style, and I only ate a bit of porridge and some fish.
The End of Sentosa trip~
2nd last event. The Hai Sing 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Dinner at Suntec City Ballrooms 1,2 and 3 on 20 November from 6.30 - 11pm. The dinner was fantastic but more attention was paid to the taking of pictures rather than consuming the exquisite food. Dishes like abalone and a simple version of Sharks' Fin soup were served. The first 2 hours of the dinner included having everyone gathered in the ballrooms, an opening speech by the principal, photos and videos of Hai Sing's 3 generations of students(Hai Sing Girls' High School, Hai Sing High School, Hai Sing Catholic School) and a prayer by an archbishop of S'pore.
Well, nothing much to be elaborated on this, just that everyone was excited to see his/her friends and teachers dressed smartly and formally in suits/dresses and the guys wearing ties and some of the girls on high heels. All handsome gentlemen and pretty women. Even after the dinner ended, most students stayed in the hall of the ballrooms and took quick snapshots of one another. Interesting and a memorable time together indeed!
Lastly, the Combined Uniformed Group Experiential Learning Camp To Batam, Indonesia from 15 - 17 November.
The 1st day of the camp was pretty tedious yet some enjoyable time was included. A lot of "punishments" meted out and the day the camp was being organised was a novelty. If everyone had been punctual and always on-time in doing things, there wouldn't be any punishment. And punishments were not given for mistakes, unless it was a very conspicuous one.
The best part of Day 1 was being put in clean mud from head to toe. Some even had mud on their faces.
The first activity on the 2nd day of the camp was conducted at 0200 hours, or 2AM in the morning. We were being brought to the forest for a night walk, where we were to walk a certain route of the forest on our own, guided by neon lights from broken sticks.
After that, the punishments we owed the trainers from the 1st day were meted out after the night walk, from 3 - 4.30am.
The 2nd day was pretty fun. We went to an orphanage to interact, mingle, play and have fun with the orphans who were as young as 6 and as old as 16. Their desires were simple. Just had to play easy games with them and they'd be delighted. The visit also made us reflect on how different their lives were from ours. One small room in their dorms could hold at least 10 orphans, and there were no fans or windows in the dorms. All walls. After that, we had dinner at a shopping mall, where most of us did some shopping and practised some bargaining with the Indonesians.
Day Three was the best. The whole day was Free N' Easy, and we did as many things as possible. I swam, played bowling and played squash. After all the freedom and fun, we packed our stuff and headed back to the ferry and proceeded back home. The trip there and back was all by ferry. Trip there: Ocean Raider. Trip back: Sea Raider 2.
